
Pioneering architect and designer, Charlotte Perriand, had an instinctual ability to cut right to the good stuff. She had to kick down the door into a world of male designers, originally rejected by Le Corbusier's studio with the note, "We don't embroider cushions here". Corbusier later righted the wrong when he personally saw her installation, Bar sur le toit (see below). She was an enthusiastic adventurer traveling the globe hiking and skiing, creating visionary spaces and objects, an independent woman and a legend!
